Lives and works in austin, tx

STATEMENT

James Porschen’s work abstracts reality, transcending the literal and focusing on the underlying essence of nature, letting its’ sublime reflection emerge. His art stands as a meditation on the balance of nature’s furious and fragile modes.

In Earthworks a tactile quality is harnessed to express an assimilation with nature while being created from an ecological and earthly viewpoint. The work is united by an all over composition and a timeless visual language meant to emphasize materiality.

His art intends to promote a reverence and respect to the natural environment as key to our survival while we navigate our tenuous relationship between societal growth and the lands we call home.

Consequently, the artworks are not intended to reflect any specific location rather the inner destination one creates while viewing them. With the loss of narrative associations, these images may then serve as vessels for contemplation.
